Lots of lore in this book。 Also some interesting revelations。 Still not my favorite in the series, but I preferred it to the last couple。

There are two things that I *really* like in this volume。 First, while it may feel like a filler volume with the later half focused on the parallel progress of Kabru, we finally get some insight into the motivations of multiple parties。 The desires of the dungeon itself come to light and set up an intriguing potential future conflict。 And second, the self-deprecating shot Ryoko Kui takes with the complexity of Mithrun’s story (and it’s unwieldy cast of characters) cracks me up。 Of course, I *li There are two things that I *really* like in this volume。 First, while it may feel like a filler volume with the later half focused on the parallel progress of Kabru, we finally get some insight into the motivations of multiple parties。 The desires of the dungeon itself come to light and set up an intriguing potential future conflict。 And second, the self-deprecating shot Ryoko Kui takes with the complexity of Mithrun’s story (and it’s unwieldy cast of characters) cracks me up。 Of course, I *like* everything else as well。 The art is at its usual fantastic level。 The Izutsumi development chapters are moving; Kui does a great job exploring the challenges Izutsumi faces trying to find a place in Laios’s adventure party。 The long wait between volumes has me ready for a full series reread when volume 10 is available。 。。。more

More story than recipes in this volume, but still a great read。

For the second volume in a row we're offered a couple middling adventures that don't really advance the main plot, especially since the focus is primarily on side characters。 A new conflict is set up between two of those side characters and the central group that should pay off in future volumes, but can we please just finish the business with the sister already?Side note: I thought Captain Mithrun was a female elf last volume, but apparently he is male。 The character now seems less interesting。 For the second volume in a row we're offered a couple middling adventures that don't really advance the main plot, especially since the focus is primarily on side characters。 A new conflict is set up between two of those side characters and the central group that should pay off in future volumes, but can we please just finish the business with the sister already?Side note: I thought Captain Mithrun was a female elf last volume, but apparently he is male。 The character now seems less interesting。 。。。more

The plot thickens and takes a turn。。。

This comic remains one of the coolest re-imaginings of the classic high fantasy setting, with a lot of familiar tidbits interspersed with neat twists。 This one really starts to get into the main plot, bit by bit。

The culinary hijinks take a back seat this volume to give us a fun story of Izutsumi vs a horde of succubi and more lore on The Canaries and how the dungeons initially came to be。 Not as entertaining as what’s come before, but it raises the stakes considerably for what I’m sure is going to be a wonderful finale。

Another solid volume in the series。 Super cool to get into some deeper backstory for the world and the characters, very interesting。 Exciting to feel things ramping up towards a confrontation with the big bad。 However, not enough Senshi for my taste。

'Delicious in Dungeon' has been worth the wait; we don't get nearly as many monsters to eat in volume 9, but we get a lot of fun character moments, some looks at the party's backstory, and more of that good weird dungeon lore。 It feels like we might be getting close to wrapping this up, and I can't wait to see how it all comes together。 (Then again, I might have said the same thing about killing the dragon and resurrecting Falin when volume 5 was coming around。。。 :) 'Delicious in Dungeon' has been worth the wait; we don't get nearly as many monsters to eat in volume 9, but we get a lot of fun character moments, some looks at the party's backstory, and more of that good weird dungeon lore。 It feels like we might be getting close to wrapping this up, and I can't wait to see how it all comes together。 (Then again, I might have said the same thing about killing the dragon and resurrecting Falin when volume 5 was coming around。。。 :) 。。。more
