Lots of lore in this book。 Also some interesting revelations。 Still not my favorite in the series， but I preferred it to the last couple。

There are two things that I *really* like in this volume。 First， while it may feel like a filler volume with the later half focused on the parallel progress of Kabru， we finally get some insight into the motivations of multiple parties。 The desires of the dungeon itself come to light and set up an intriguing potential future conflict。 And second， the self-deprecating shot Ryoko Kui takes with the complexity of Mithrun’s story （and it’s unwieldy cast of characters） cracks me up。 Of course， I *li There are two things that I *really* like in this volume。 First， while it may feel like a filler volume with the later half focused on the parallel progress of Kabru， we finally get some insight into the motivations of multiple parties。 The desires of the dungeon itself come to light and set up an intriguing potential future conflict。 And second， the self-deprecating shot Ryoko Kui takes with the complexity of Mithrun’s story （and it’s unwieldy cast of characters） cracks me up。 Of course， I *like* everything else as well。 The art is at its usual fantastic level。 The Izutsumi development chapters are moving; Kui does a great job exploring the challenges Izutsumi faces trying to find a place in Laios’s adventure party。 The long wait between volumes has me ready for a full series reread when volume 10 is available。 。。。more

This comic remains one of the coolest re-imaginings of the classic high fantasy setting， with a lot of familiar tidbits interspersed with neat twists。 This one really starts to get into the main plot， bit by bit。

The culinary hijinks take a back seat this volume to give us a fun story of Izutsumi vs a horde of succubi and more lore on The Canaries and how the dungeons initially came to be。 Not as entertaining as what’s come before， but it raises the stakes considerably for what I’m sure is going to be a wonderful finale。

Another solid volume in the series。 Super cool to get into some deeper backstory for the world and the characters， very interesting。 Exciting to feel things ramping up towards a confrontation with the big bad。 However， not enough Senshi for my taste。
